CEO Letter To Members 2025 Q3

September 26th, 2025
From CEO Thomas Domingue

Each quarter it is my privilege to write to you and share with you what your credit union is working on to help support your financial journey to well-being. 2025 has been a tough year for many, as we have all had to navigate our way through chaos and uncertainty within the economy and politics. As I prepare this letter in the final days of the quarter, there remains uncertainty concerning the passage of a Continuing Resolution to sustain federal government funding through November, a matter that could impact many of our members.

Shutdown or no shutdown, your credit union will be here for you. If you have questions about your options or concerns about your financial situation, I encourage you to contact our team of Financial Wellness Advisors to talk about the different options we have to offer support.

Always working to ensure that we have the resources you need, the third quarter here at Labor CU was busy. Below are just a few of the highlighted events that took place:

July: • We rolled out a new phone platform for our member interactions. All system conversions can be scary and challenging, however this upgrade went smoothly. There are still a few things we are working on (such as the recording voice sounding “robotic”), but the enhanced functionality has improved our member engagement. With the new platform in place, our members can now reach us via phone, text or SMS messaging, and secure online chat. The enhanced platform also provides our team members with the ability to co-browse and screen share with our members during virtual visits for enhanced support and guidance, as well as provides our members with Artificial Intelligence (AI) equipped support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!

• In July, we also culminated in the launch of our Business Line of Credit (BLOC) loan product for our entrepreneurs, providing a source of lending for small businesses to help meet your cash flow and business growth needs.

August: • In August, we opened our branch location at the Suitland Federal Center (SFC) location! Opening this branch has been in the works for several months and completes the move from the old Postal Square location to Suitland Federal Center. Please make sure to stop by and say hello to our team if you are in the area!

September: • This month, we launched a new collaboration with NewU University, designed to help support their mission of providing college education to first generation and low-income students in the Washington DC market. Our support of NewU University reflects the credit union’s aim to becoming a Community Development Financial Institution dedicated to building strong, resilient communities. As part of this collaboration, Labor Credit Union supplied NewU University with laptops and home WiFi devices for their students to utilize in their pursuit of higher learning.

• Also, this month, our VP of Operations, Audra Pettus, was a guest on WUSA9’s Good Day Washington to discuss the importance of financial education and well-being and provide resources to members throughout the Washington DC area. In case you missed it, watch the segment here: Good Day Washington. Looking forward into the fourth quarter, Labor CU is working steadily towards opening our first community accessible branch, which will be located at 3601 St. Barnabas Rd, Hillcrest Heights, MD. We anticipate opening this branch late in the year and will provide updates for our members in my year-end recap.

Labor Credit Union is here for you, and once a member, always a member, no matter where life takes you on your journey. As the year moves forward, we will continue to focus on Engaging, Empowering, and creating Opportunities for our 8,500+ members.

Sincerely,

Thomas Domingue
